Yesterday, I quit my job. Not because I wanted to, but because my boss stole my idea. He deceived me. I've been operating a side hustle while I worked for him, which I won't go into too much detail on. I don't like to believe too many people are inclined to steal ideas, but this event has caused a sudden distrust to fester inside me. Hence my tight lips. I've been working on the side hustle for coming up to about six months now, and I've finally got the system down to a science. In all fairness, 99% of the credit should go to AI, namely Grok. I wouldn't have cared too much had he let me know he was embarking on the exact same venture. Anyway, I don't wish to digress any more than I have done already. The point is, I quit my job because I was fucked over. The sudden resignation means I have one month's pay, and 21 days' holiday. After that, I have no reliable income. The side hustle is only marginally successful, too infantile to sustain itself. I have no intention of having a dickhead boss ever again. So that leaves me with 34 days to make something happen.
I can't say I have too many ideas right now. I intend on quadrupling down on the existing project of course. My efforts do not guarantee success. No efforts do. As a man of probabilistic reasoning, I would feel much better hedging my bets across a variety of projects. I'm always working on side projects, though this is the first time I've referred to them as such. Though, I suppose that's what they are. I think my inclination towards side projects stems from my desire to be free, or at least as free as is possible in this life. With the situation I find myself in, I must think of something and fast. I have an idea in the pipeline, but it requires a machine which has not been delivered yet. A man in my position can't exactly wait around for deliveries. At times like these, you must throw shit at the wall and see what sticks. So until the required machine is in my hands, the project does not exist. I have well and truly stepped into the arena of life.
I have begun the process of selling all unnecessary items I own. It's remarkable how little you actually need. I'd bet at any one time, you could survive on 5% of the stuff you own. There may be some exceptions, but for the most part I think it's true. It certainly is for me. In the past I've hacked away at my possessions in an attempt to declutter my mind. This is probably my fourth or fifth round of doing so, and this time it feels relentless. Everything that does not contribute to the cause immediately is worth more as cash right now. eBay has been my friend. I have around 100 listings on the platform. I've even been slashing prices in an attempt to get things moving. Most if not all of my high value items are gone. I've even sold my car, which is being collected in three days. My pedal bike has got the chop too, there's nowhere a car or bike can get me that my legs cannot - relentless. I have 21 days to sell it all and leave, because that's when the lease on my office expires. After this, I'm a free bird. Being free like that is the most exhilarating thing you'll ever do. I've only caught glimpses of it in the past. This is my first true leap of faith. With this in mind, the next project will have to be extremely lightweight. I mean a singular backpack kind of lightweight. This means the next project has to be robust and portable. Ideally, it will exist in the digital realm. I have two laptops, a PC, two phones, a microphone, and the product I'm not willing to disclose (plus some auxiliary items). Luckily, the machine for one of the projects can be fully disassembled and reassembled, hopefully it's compact. I see no reason why it wouldn't be.
I suppose I can share one project that cannot be stolen: this site, and the writing on it. It cannot be stolen because it is me. The voice, the choices, the mess of interests that do not fit a single niche. Nobody else can publish as me without it being a forgery.
My plan is to keep making things, until something sticks. This site is merely a vessel by which these things can be published.
